AFRICAN INSPIRED;MICHEAL KORS S/S 2012 COLLECTIONS

Michael Kors is another creative culprit at Mercedez Benz Fashion week, just recently showcasing his Spring  collection and adding to the list of high profile designers seemingly inspired by Africa; its people and its culture.
Kors creatively utilized  the occasional pattern paradoxes, collaborating fabrics from opposite ends of the fabric wheel in a stylistic, ingenious fashion. The choice of fabrics ranged from silks, satins and sheers to heavy knits, suede and the occasional vinyl, displaying a colour palette which was just as interesting. Kors explored hues of desert brown, crisp whites, khakis, mustards and rusty oranges,  all indicative of his African inspired theme leading us to Colonial South Africa, the animals, the native people and the recurrent ‘explorer’ look.
Standout animal prints can often emit a ‘love-it’ or ‘hate-it’ attitude from the audience, though Kors does well to deliver this trend with stylish sophistication and revamp it for the next (wo)man.
Take a look at Kor’s full Spring collection below and note the strong African inspiration;
